Hmm

First full day at home with the family, it went well.  Lia is definitely acting out by yelling and being rude.  Normal but this is going to be interesting.  We went for 12 mile bike ride and then the farmers market.
On another note, something that has been bugging me, how does one preach of humility and teach others to be humble but be arrogant and megalomaniacle, be two faced and have a superiority complex and always saying everyone else is stupid and below him even when it's his fault.  Some people can separate work and personal life, unfortunately for me I feel that one's attitude, character and true being are one in the same and if someone displays these attributes at work then it also carries into their personal life.  I wish I could separate the two but I can't. Sad really.

Opening Ceremonies

Today was a great day, my son was discharged from the hospital after 2 weeks in the NICU.  The first dinner and reunion of the family was a mixed bag, but we will see.  My bet is still that Lia tries to kill her brother my suffocation. I see my training for my triathlon training becoming more important for me physically and mentally, but becoming harder and harder to stay consistent.
So here was today's workout,
1 mile swim
2x25   warmup-breast stroke
6x100 with 20 second rest-freestyle
3x200 with 20 second rest-freestyle
3x100 with 20 second rest-freestyle
2x25   cooldown-breast stroke

Hopefully tomorrow a 20 mile bike ride with Lia and then the farmers market, now back to our scheduled programming, the Olympic opening ceremony.

First one

Well This is my first post so, hopefully my son Owen will come home tomorrow. I am ready to start getting back to some semblance of family life.  I just brewed two beers; one is a WPA or a wheat pale ale and the other is a Petite Saison, roughly based off of the one Northern Brewer has.  With that one I used washed yeast from a previous Saison I brewed from a starter that included some yeast from one of my favorite beers, Colette by Great Divide.  Recipes for both soon to follow.  I am hoping to brew a Bierre de Garde with the yeast from the Petite Saison, by washing it again.  This is a new technique for me but I like the simple fact that it doesn't take much effort, as long as you continue to practice good sanitation and I don't have to purchase yeast, which isn't much but with two kids now and the only bread winner, everything counts.
I am also training for my first triathlon coming up in 2 months, so far it's going well, just need to increase my run time for the 5K, up my bike speed a little and continue to swim in the open water.
Well this is a good first post.  More to come.
